LONDON: 6 January 2011
Cooper Gay, the leading independent global wholesale, reinsurance and specialist retail insurance broker, has appointed Alan Abel as head of broking and director of its non-marine division.
Based in London, but with a global remit, Mr Abel will be responsible for co-ordinating and directing Cooper Gay's specialist resources to enhance the services provided to international clients. He will report to Richard Mahoney, Managing Director of the non-marine division.
Mr Abel joins from Aon where he was an executive director. He has amassed 25 years' experience in the international property market, handling business emanating from all regions of the world.
To further improve its client focus, two new positions have also been created within the non-marine property team. As a result Nicola Willis has been appointed head of Central America and Peter Gale has become head of Caribbean. Both are internal promotions.
Commenting on the new appointments, Richard Mahoney said: "The international non-marine team is an essential element of Cooper Gay's broking arsenal and it is therefore important that we continually invest in its development. Bringing Alan into the business and promoting Nicola and Peter will both strengthen our capabilities and heighten our market presence as we push for growth in 2011."
