Cooper Gay double awards victory

LONDON: 3 December 2010

The Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford Group announced a double victory at the Insurance Day London Market Awards 2010.

Insurance Day London Market Awards 2010Cooper Gay's Patrick Ellis picked up 'Young Broker of the Year', whilst Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford won 'Transaction of the Year'.

The winners were announced last night at an Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, attended by teams from both Cooper Gay and Swett & Crawford.

Cooper Gay & Co's Patrick Ellis, who works in the reinsurance team handling both non marine retro and marine accounts, was recognised by the judges for his ability to offer new solutions to complex problems, making him really stand out from the other entries for Young Broker of the Year.

The Cooper Gay Swett & Crawford transaction was singled out as a winner because of the uniqueness of the deal, which created the world's largest independent global wholesale and reinsurance broker.  For two such large and diverse broking enterprises there was very little overlap, meaning the focus was on incremental growth rather than cost synergies.

The London Market Awards is one of the UK insurance industry's most prestigious and hotly contested awards. Congratulations to Patrick and all the teams involved.
